Stussy Sizing Guide: Expert Tips & Size Charts For The Perfect Fit

Never buy the wrong size again with our expert guide to how Stussy men's clothing fits, including detailed size charts you can match to your measurements.

Words by: Charlie Thomas

Stussy is one of the more instantly recognisable brands out there today. And that’s largely down to the distinctive graffiti scrawl logo, which has been emblazoned across everything it produces since the 80s.

It was founded by Shawn Stussy, who began by screen printing T-shirts and giving them away to his friends within the Orange County surf scene in California. He was a skilled surfboard shaper, and would often throw in a T-shirt with one of his boards.

The brand quickly caught on, with Shawn later turning to sweatshirts, hoodies and anything else he could get his hands on, and Stussy was born.

Because of its direct links to the surf world, Stussy is often thought of as a surf or streetwear brand. But even back in the day Shawn was dubious of such terms. “Everybody calls it surf wear, or urban streetwear, punk or surf street,” he said in a New York Times interview in 1992. “I don’t name it, and I don’t name it on purpose.”

This ambiguity gave the brand strong foundations, and over time while it has undoubtedly been favoured by skaters and streetwear aficionados, Stussy appeals to people from all walks of life.

Does Stussy fit true to size?

No, Stussy tends to fit slightly oversized. Everything from its T-shirts to its jackets and pants are all cut with a bit more room than you might be used to. This gives the brand its signature boxy look that fans young and old appreciate.

While some brands get oversized clothing wrong, Stussy have mastered its cuts, so its wide-fitting, dropped shouldered tees appear deliberate, instead of it looking like you just bought the wrong size.

It’s important to consider this when it comes to buying Stussy clothing. If you are slight of build or short, it might be worth sizing down to get a more natural-looking fit. If you’re of average height and build (or above), stick to your normal size and embrace the looser, comfortable fit.

Stussy T-shirts size chart

As mentioned, Stussy T-shirts are usually boxy, with dropped shoulders and relaxed hems. In short, they’re slightly oversized and perfectly suit laid-back casualwear with a similarly relaxed feel.

They’re typically made from pure cotton and as such shouldn’t shrink in the wash. Simply re-shape them when drying to achieve that boxy feel it had off the rack.

Again, Stussy hoodies are cut on the slightly wider side. Expect a relaxed chest and middle, with a slightly drawn in hem.

It’s worth noting the hems on Stussy hoodies are usually a regular length, so they won’t look too long. This is great for shorter people who might be worried that an oversized hoodie might make them look even smaller.

Elsewhere, the shoulders are usually slightly dropped, furthering the laid back feel of these classic streetwear hoodies.

You could size down for a more tailored fitting jacket, but we’d recommend going with your usual size to make use of the brand’s signature look.

Stussy jeans & pants size chart

From the very beginning Stussy’s trousers have featured wider cuts, with generous thighs and relaxed hems. This has traditionally made them popular with skaters, who value comfort and ease of movement.

Its many styles of pants, from its cargos to its jeans, are all cut with a relaxed fit, so keep this in mind. If you’re looking for something slimmer, it might be best to go elsewhere.
